Since I do so much with PRP treatments, and have seen PRP absolutely work to solve issues like shoulder pain, knee back, low back pain, thumb pain, neck pain, jaw pain, and migraine headaches, unfortunately, it’s not often covered by insurance. PRP treatments are also very effective at regenerating hair growth where there’s been unwanted hair loss, for men and women.
I am more a fan of doing what needs to be done to help relieve pain for my patients, or help them sleep better, help them lose weight, and help them feel better and live more productive and happy lives, so I do what it takes to solve my patients’ ailments.
Fortunately, I am a neurologist, and run a medical practice in Denville JN called NeuroWellnessMD. We do accept most insurance under the NeuroWellnessMD umbrella. When it comes to the therapies and treatment plans I know works, but they’re not covered by insurance, I still want the best for my patients, so that’s why I have ProloHealing Medspa in the same location as my medical practice.
Regenerative medical treatments like PRP injections that help relieve and eliminate pain, or that helps speed the body’s healing process so you can feel better, sleep better, and live healthier, happier lives. As a physician, this is priceless. Truly solving a patient’s debilitating ailments should be at the heart of what healthcare is all about, right?
Most insurance plans don’t cover PRP injections. However, a number of private plans and workers’ compensation plans do cover PRP. This is likely because the alternative to PRP would be either steroid injections, which actually destroy your body, or addictive pain killers.
PRP is generally not covered by Medicare either.
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy coverage by insurance varies, but in most cases, it is not covered by insurance. Here are some key points:
- Limited Insurance Coverage: As of the information available, most insurance companies do not typically cover PRP therapy. This is because PRP is often considered an elective or experimental procedure by insurance providers, and they may not include it in their coverage. It’s been in use for decades now, so this reasoning seems antiquated.
- Case-By-Case Basis: Some patients have reported getting partial coverage or reimbursement for PRP therapy in specific cases where it was deemed medically necessary or used for certain conditions. However, these instances are usually exceptions rather than the rule.
- Self-Payment: PRP treatments are exceptionally effective and priceless. Please invest in your quality of life! : In many cases, individuals seeking PRP therapy will need to pay for the procedure out of pocket. The cost of PRP therapy can vary based on the specific treatment, but I always do my best to keep all out-of-pocket costs as reasonable as possible.
- Consider a Consultation: Like I said, the results are priceless. My patients ALWAYS say, “I am so upset I waited so long to do this!” Sometimes, they’ve had so many steroid shots the damage becomes irreparable. Don’t wait. If you’re in the Denville, NJ area, [email protected]
